French Toast (Italian Style)

Recipe is for 24 slices
  • 12 large eggs
  • ½ stick butter or margarine
  • ¼ tea salt
  • 1 tea. Vanilla
  • 8 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 24 slices Italian or firm American bread

    		•

    1. Melt butter in milk. Pour into bowl, add remaining ingredients and beat well.
    2. Butter 2 cookie sheets
    3. Dip bread in batter – push air out of bread and soak well in egg mixture. Let drip and place on cookie sheet
    4. Bake at 325° for about 30 minutes.
