The chanterelle mushroom is considered by many to be one of the best wild mushrooms in the world. It is orange or yellow, meaty and funnel-shaped. On the lower surface, underneath the smooth cap, it has gill-like ridges that run almost all the way down its stem. It has a fruity apricot smell and a mildly peppery taste. Our dried chanterelle mushrooms come from high-end, Italian gourmet producer, Mardona. No Italian kitchen is complete without them! They are delicious sautéed in butter with onions, or alone; or enjoyed in soups and stews.
